CCVLP Garden Party & Auction – Art Submission Review Rubric

This is a copy of the rubric used by CCVLP’s art review committee to make determinations on submissions to accept. All members of the committee review all pieces, rate them separately, then come together to form consensus and final determinations.

Instructions: Score each submission based on the criteria below. Use the notes section to add context or details. Scores can help guide final decisions but are not the sole determinant—final selection made by the committee should consider overall balance across the show per “When making final selections” section at the bottom of this document.

Criteria Description Score (1–5) Notes
Artistic Impact Does the piece provoke emotion, tell a story, or engage the viewer meaningfully?
Originality Is the work unique, imaginative, or creatively interpreted?
Craftsmanship Is the piece well-executed, demonstrating intentionality and care in its creation?
Medium Does this medium add to the diversity of the show (e.g., painting, sculpture, photography, fiber art, digital)?
Style Does this style contribute to the variety of the exhibition (e.g., abstract, realism, folk, conceptual)?
Artist Representation Does the artist help expand representation among participants (e.g., youth, emerging artist, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled, system-impacted)?
Alignment with Event Does the piece feel appropriate for the spirit and tone of the Garden Party (joyful, reflective, community-minded, etc.)?
